I just finished the first quarter of my first marathon training. This means I've got 12 more weeks to go until Porto Marathon.

The hot weather has been quite unbearable some days, but overall, Tokyo has been much cooler than the last few years. In fact, it's the first year in 40 years that every day in August has saw some rain. For me, this is amazing, but I guess it's not really good for those businesses that depend on the warm weather!

The combination of intervals, fartlek, recovery, and long runs have been helping me slowly get there. The hot weather has been slowing down my average pace, but I have been more focused on doing every run and every workout.

The last long run was actually really hard for me. I didn't eat right and the weather was very muggy. I was only able to run 20km in 2 hours and 20 minutes, which is far from my personal half marathon best at 1:48:04, but I feel like running and getting used to the heat will make me a stronger person. I do feel that my body has been able to take in more heat, so hopefully by November, my body is more than ready to go!

Of course, even in rain, I'm set to run!
