When Retiring Your Running Mates

Most running shoes manufacturers recommend using a pair for 500 km to 800 km. So after my half marathon on Sunday, I decided to retire my baby - the ASICS GT 1000 pictured below.

They lasted me a little under 6 months or 600 km, and helped me finish two half marathons, so it is quite melancholic. They were also my first pair that helped me with my over-pronation, making me realize how important shoes are in running. I got them because in January, I woke up with a sharp pain in my knee, thinking it might have to do with cushioning of the previous New Balance shoes I was wearing. I went to RunnersNeed store and got the whole video-treadmill test and was told that I was a serial over-pronator. I definitely feel like these shoes have helped with the pain since I've gotten them. Even though they've probably lost their cushioning by now, they certainly still have use as working out shoes!

So thank you to my first ASICS shoes for really being my support (literally).
